TOPIC: WRITING TASK 2
A mass communication and transport continue to grow, societies are becoming more and more alike leading to a phenomenon known as globalization. Some people fear that globalization will inevitably lead to the total loss of cultural identity. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

ANSWER:

Globalization, gives a lot of advantages to every nation. The positive effects of this phenomenon, for me, have nothing to do with the total loss of cultural identity.

With today’s modern technology, communication is easier than before. With just a couple of tap or clicks to one’s smartphone, we could immediately talk to someone that is miles away from us. We could even see them live using the video camera with the help of “wireless fidelity” that serves as the communicator of the two networks. On the other hand, our means of transportations are way better and faster than the earlier times. Using the trains, aircrafts, and subways, the transport time is lesser than before. These changes contribute a lot to every nation’s economy.

Losing one’s cultural identity, mainly depend on how its citizens and officials will value this despite of the fast changing world. There are some countries that are really progressive but still manage to preserve their culture. One of the examples is Japan. This country has modern equipment, facilities, transportations, etcetera but their traditions are still intact; eating without using chairs and with your knees bent, using chopsticks, bowing when greeting someone and a whole lot more are some parts of their culture that remains the same.

Another example is China, this country, while not really that progressive like Japan, but starting to make name with their labor and products has remain its cultural identity. Almost everything hasn’t change with them. In any parts of the world, when you visit the community that consists of Chinese people, you could easily identify them because of their architectural designs on their homes. Their traditions are still being practiced by most of them; one of those is their famous feng shui, which was also being adopted by some of the nationalities because of its effectiveness to one’s fortune. Another one is their famous Accupunture which is now approved to be effective by medical practitioners.

To sum it up, Cultural identity will not be affected by globalization as long as it is valued by the people most especially by the government of every country. If people will respect, preserve and love their heritage, then there’s nothing to fret about its total loss.

CHIN CHUN SU, Most effective cream ever for only 20 pesos!

I was on the look of an effective yet affordable face creams to add it on my beauty regimen. I decided to browse on my favorite website www.femalenetwork.com and clicked the category "lets primp and prettify". I was enjoying reading on the forums until I saw a thread that got my attention, a topic named "chin chun su - inexpensive yet very effective product" With my curiosity and willingness to learn about this product, I opened it and read all the reviews by my co-Gtalker. Mostly said, that it has a blooming effect the morning after you applied it at night. Some claimed that it gave them a flawless with a dewy effect on their face.

Because of those positive reviews, I asked my mom to buy me one. I was so surprised that my mom knows it, She said, she also used that product before. I asked her how was the effect on her skin, and yes! She answered the same thing to what other Gtalker said in the forum. I was really convinced with what my mom said to me, and asked her to buy me.

First let me describe the packaging of chin chun su. The container is an oval shaped about 1 and half inch in size, it has 2 variants, Pink is mainly for whitening and clearing the face from zits and blemishes and orange container that has beta carotene with whitening property also. The pink container has 3 variants, the difference of the three is just on the color sticker, it has blue, white and gold. What I got is the pink container with blue sticker. this product has an active ingredient namely sulfur and salicylic acid that gave the product a little but non fouling smell. Chin chun su is made in Taiwan, and it was commercially available in the Philippines not later than 1980's. According to the label, Chin chun su facial cream is an all around non-irritant, powerful clearing and lightening facial cream perfect for use on any external dark spots of your body such as the bikini area, armpit, nipple, and knees. It is an excellent age defying cream against acne, age spots, dark spots, pimples, sun spots and wrinkles spots, thus making you look younger than your true age. It s very powerful clearing facial spots essence helps the body cure itself of skin problems caused by mother nature time and environmental aggressors. This product is original and authentic, moisturize and prevents dry skin, can be used as a make-up foundation, can be used all over your external body to remove blemishes and dark spots, can be used by young and old alike.

The night after my mom gave me the cream, I was so excited to use it. I do my evening rituals (washed my face, apply my favorite toner). Inspite of the excitement, I was a little bit nervous because I read on the label that it has a purging stage wherein few pimples will grow on my face, but they assure that it's normal and will disappear after a week or 2. The cream is super creamy, if your in a cold temperature, it would be a little hard to get the cream in the container. Using my middle and pointing finger, I only applied little amount of chin chun su, I evenly distribute it all over my face and neck. I leave it overnight.

Morning after the night I applied the chin chun su, I was really happy with the results. My face has a blooming effect and it immediately whitens my skin, I may sound exaggerated but yes, I could Stand on this effects on my skin. My skin looks healthy and radiant. With this results, I continue to use it. I'm now on my second week of using the product, and I'm still happy using it. This will be my HG night and morning cream and I'm looking forward for a porcelain like skin by the help of this product! :)

Nurses in the Philippines

It was on the year 2003 when nurses in USA are very in demand; many Filipinos were very much excited on this news. USA was hiring a lot of nurses that time and they were importing those professionals from different Asian countries like china, Malaysia and of course Philippines.

Many took this an opportunity of working abroad specifically to Uncle Sam’s territory. Incoming college students of middle and even upper class people were being encouraged to take the course that time, even doctors and other professionals that are not related to health/medical field enrolled their selves on this profession because for them, huge salary awaits in US. Indeed, nursing would be a stepping stone of working in US.

There was a pooling of nursing students in a lot of schools in Philippines, even non universities who do not offer BS Nursing opened the course; this will be an opportunity to them to earn from these interested people to take Nursing.

Year 2005 when USA was experiencing recession; they have to cut down their expenses; retrogression takes place. Retrogression means, only limited visas were given in a year to a certain country. Nurses were really affected that time; many Registered Nurses took and passed the NCLEX but cannot get the working visa that they want. With this incidence, they should not rely their selves on their dreams of working to Uncle Sam, they have to work in order for them to grow on their profession and earn on their own; there’s no choice but to work on either other countries or on their own country. Sad to say only few were hiring nurses, and the hurtful part there is, what they want is an employee that has hospital experience as a staff nurse.

What happened to those thousands of nursing students enrolled on the course? Most of them graduated and got their licenses. Those RN’s encountered another challenge on their lives; to look for a job. Some are lucky enough to find a job as a nurse; some were unlucky and try their luck in the other field.

Since an experience is required or a great advantage to other applicants when applying a job as a nurse, many or almost all hospitals opened their institution for volunteer nurse. What’s the purpose of this volunteering? I’ll explain you with this example; when a hospital hires a nurse, what they are looking are the ones who has already have an experience, the one who became a paid nurse to other hospitals. There are a lot of RNSs here in the Philippines, but very few have a hospital experience. To give them an experience, most of the hospitals offered volunteering wherein an RN will pay the volunteer fee. You work to them like a full time staff nurse but there’s no salary here, no allowance, no free meals, all are at your own expense. Sounds unfair right? But do those RN’s accept such agreement?! Of course yes! It’s because of the experience, the experience that was looking by those hospitals to qualify as a member of their health care team.

Almost all of them agreed on this and yes, they got hired and some are now working abroad while others are still on the look. Most of them became sick and tired with this, and just jump to other career. Mostly are in the call center agencies (well compensated salary) while others are in different fields.

As of the moment, the government is making a move to stop this unequal treatment. One of their action is the House bill 5641, here is the content of the Bill:

House Bill 5641: “An Act Prohibiting the Exploitative ‘Volunteerism’ of Nurses” has been filed at the House of

Representatives this December 2011.

Instead of just removing the fees, there is finally a bill to stop the EXPLOITATIVE practices of “FALSE

Volunteerism”: having nurses do STAFF Nurse responsibilities, but without salaries.

Violators can be penalized a fine of P100,000 to P500,000 and face imprisonment of 6 Months to 1 Year; while

hospitals themselves face suspension or cancellation of their licenses.

Another offer of the government is the DOH in partnership to DOLE program NARS adn RNheals wherein

they employ inexperienced nurses and being deployed to remote areas or to RN's provinces as well as to

some government hospitals. They will receive an PHP 8,000 fixed salary and PHP 2,000 meal allowance.

This is a very good step and should be widen by the government so many would benefit from this program.

By this way, they somehow let those people feel that the government i not deaf to nurse's grievance.

making extra income online

When we think of generating an extra income what would be the first we would think? Well, maybe we are thinking of the same idea and that is by having a SIDELINE. :)

What are those sidelines that you want to do? maybe you would think of having a part time job that would only require a little of your time or perhaps, for business minded people, might come up with the idea of putting a small business that also don't require much of your time.

For me my best bet of generating an extra income is by having a small business, why?? it's because I could go anywhere and do what I want to do, I handle my time, because I am the boss. No worries of meeting a quota, no hassle of being on time to work and no boss to follow commands. But what business that won't need a lot of your time and effort that would not interfere to your current work or whatever activity that keeps you busy? Well if you'll gonna ask me what business would I suggest, I would absolutely say have an ONLINE SHOP. I suggested this because it has so many advantages for a very busy person like you and I'm one of those who have been enjoying this advantages of being an online seller. What are the advantages? here are the list that I made to convince you that I'm right.

1. it's very easy to manage, it don't require much of your precious time and effort to run and maintain the business.
2. there are lots of social networking sites such as facebook and multiply wherein you could easily create your account and transform it to an online shop.
3. you could start on a little capital or  NO CAPITAL at all! yes you heard it right No CAPITAL, How? i'll gonna tell you later.
4. No DTI or any permits needed because there is still no definite law here in the Philippines that requires an online seller to register their online based businesses. If you would want to, the business registration that I would recommend  is to register it to DTI because it will secure your business name, by that way no one could ever use your business name, this is an excellent move if you are serious and plans to expand your business in future if ever your venture is successful, anyhow it will only cost you a few bucks will not exceed php 2000.00 for national permits. But for a starter like you that only wants to have an extra income, you don't have to. That's just my opinion anyway, it's up to you if you would want to register your business.
5. Easy to communicate to your clients because they allow you to get their contact numbers for communication purposes.
6. It could give a Sense of happiness when your clients posts a positive feedback regarding your service and products.

I come up with those advantages because that are my experiences of being an online seller.
If you are convinced of having an online store I made you a step by step process on how, this is based on how did I start my shop. :)

Step 1:
>> Think of what product you would want to sell. Know first your target market and their needs. It is also good to consider the product that you would love to sell or the products that you have a lot of knowledge about it so if ever your customer asks you, probably you would answer them accurately and could easily encouraged them to purchase the product. It's easy to market a product if you know it by heart. :)

Step 2:
> > Find a supplier. You could either search online or ask your friends and relatives where could you buy an affordable product that you would want to sell. Just make sure that your chosen supplier would give you a very good deal or is offering a really cheap at the same time high quality/authentic/durable product so that it could give you a decent profit.

Step 3
>>  Choose a site where you will display your merchandise. I recommend ebay, facebook and multiply because these sites are already famous on online shopping.

 Step 4
>> Choose a reliable courier.

Step 5
>> Create your policies, order forms, and other information such as how to order, payment modes shipping policy etc.

Step 6
>> Get ready for taking pictures of your products. Show your inner skills in photography, provide good lightning and a good camera. You don't have to buy high end cameras like dslr or be  a professional with this area just be creative and patient of taking pictures.

Step 7
>> Upload your product photos.

Step 8
>> Market your site. Let people know that your shop exists by posting on a free advertisement sites like sulit.com.ph , olx.com or by simply tagging your friends if your using facebook. This is the most essential part of online selling specially if your just a beginner and still acquiring a customers.

Step 9
>> your shop is ready for taking orders! Welcome to online selling industry! :)

The most difficult part of online selling is acquiring your client's trust. Online scams are rampant and you couldn't blame those people who might accuse you as a scammer specially if your merchandise are 50% or much more cheaper than those in the offline market. How would you gain your client's trust? Follow my tips and your first customer might place and pay her/his order tomorrow.

1. Be honest. Only say what is true, do not exaggerate. If your selling exact replica bags don't claim it as original while in fact it's not.
2. Be consistent of what you are saying.
3. Be attentive of answering your client's questions.
4. Be kind and friendly.
5. If your client already place her/his order, update them. If your schedule cannot afford to voluntarily update them, just answer their questions regarding the status of their package. Atleast alot an extra time with this.

Online selling is a matter of trust, nobody could ever tell to your prospective clients if your legitimate  not unless someone told them about your legitimacy it may be your previous customer or a recommendation of a friend. Always keep your client's trust because it can either make your business flourish if you do or ruined if you won't do.

On the other hand, aside from your customer your supplier are one of the most important person in your business. Without them, you don't have anything to sell unless if your business only offer your service/skills like web designs etc. To give you some idea of where to get your merchandise, I made a list where you could find your possible supplier.

1. Divisoria - Offers a wide variety of clothes, shoes, cellphone accessories, women's accessories, and many more! All cheap finds are readily available here just be patient and careful to those pickpockets and holdapers. Just don't bring expensive gadgets and jewelry to be safe.

2. Online supplier - search the item that you want to sell in google and voila it would give you the websites that offers the particular products that your looking for just beware of scammers.

3.Instyle fashion shoppe - One of the most reliable supplier/wholesaler of women's clothing, accessories and cosmetics online. They offer cheapest, trendiest, fashionable and high quality products to their clients. They also have a very good deals to their reseller that would surely let them earn plus they have this offer wherein resellers could have a business with them even without a capital. For more information proceed to their online shop written below:

maecey19.multiply.com
www.facebook.com/instylefashionshop

Instyle fashion shoppe's mission is to help people who don't have an extra cash to shell out for this kind of business and to offer affordable but high quality/trendy clothes.

4. Quiapo - If your on the look for a supplier of accessories then quiapo is the good place. Just rome around the quiapo and enter those commercial bldg. and you'll surely discover those suppliers who are just inside the bldg.

Just a tip for you if you would venture on reselling to an online supplier. Not all of them have the same behavior, some of them are not that accommodating in terms of answering your queries and updating the availability of their products and shipped out items; lucky you if you found a very accommodating that answers all your questions regarding your transactions to them. Some might not be so nice if your kinda "makulit" of asking about the product (if you have this supplier, I advice you to remove them to your supplier's list and change them :p) while some might not answer you because their busy of arranging all orders. But whatever the attitude of your supplier is, always make a good communication and be kind to them because just like your customer, they are one of the most important person to your business. If your a reseller and earning without a capital, don't be too demanding as if they owe you something. Always follow their policies and inform them regargarding your orders to prevent conflict with them. If they can't afford to update their resellers, then at least you make an effort to do so. On this way, you create an harmonious relationship between you and your supplier.

If you have some more to questions, suggestions, tips or recommendations of a supplier, you may write your comment below and let other aspiring entrepreneur start their online businesses.

Happy selling everyone! :)
